The twin challenges of a digital and green transformation have been the drivers of change in the labour market and have created great needs for E&T. Improving VET is a key part of the overall vision for digital transformation in the EU.

Companies need digitally savvy employees to thrive in the global technology-driven marketplace. In turn, Employees need digital competence to succeed in an increasingly digitised and rapidly changing labour market.

The 3DECO-PRENEURS4VET project objetives are

To upgrade the profiles of VET trainers through a professional development course for introduction of emerging technologies in E&T, especially 3D MODELLING, DESIGN AND PRINTING (3D-M-P) linked to SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS for SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

To promote DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION, MODERNIZATION of VET sector, enhance its READINESS, RESILIENCE and CAPACITY with innovative and sustainable tools, materials and resources that respond to needs of the labour market.

To exploit opportunities provided through 3D-M-P skills, which are currently seen as a cornerstone of industrial shift towards advanced manufacturing, creating opportunities for employment, value creation, and reallocation of manufacturing production back to Europe.

To open up new career paths as digital and social entrepreneurs or new digital creators and leaders who resolve social issues thus exploiting opportunities social entrepreneurial solutions through use 3D modelling and printing.

Target Groups

VET TRAINERS

With expertise or strong interest in the field of IT, design/technology or engineering, business, etc., and a passion for fostering innovation and developing industry-ready skills.

VET STUDENTS

Attending i-VET and c-VET institutions who (a) are attending related courses (e.g. IT, design/technology, engineering, art/craft, business, environmental studies etc.). (b) who are interested in acquiring additional competences thus opening up new routes in their careers to better meet the needs of the labour market.

COMMUNITY AND ASSOCIATE PARTNERS

VET associations, Colleges, Adult Centres, community councils, business experts in 3D, career counsellors, Parents, policy-makers, NGOs, will create synergies with the partners.

Project Motivation

The motivation for this proposal stems from the strong interest of partner organizations in enhancing the attractiveness of VET (Vocational Education and Training) institutions to meet labor market needs, improve trainers’ competencies, and equip students to address employment challenges. Technological advancement plays a key role, with Europe being a hub for innovation, and 3D printing representing cutting-edge technology with immense potential. By training VET trainers and students in 3D printing, they are empowered to participate in this technological revolution, fostering both regional and global innovation and competitiveness. Moreover, addressing youth unemployment is a significant goal, as practical training in 3D printing offers students marketable skills, enhancing employability and encouraging entrepreneurship. Sustainable practices are also emphasized, as 3D printing can reduce waste through on-demand and localized production, aligning with Europe’s commitment to sustainability. Economic growth is another crucial aspect, with 3D printing poised to impact industries like aerospace, healthcare, automotive, and manufacturing. By training a skilled workforce, Europe can ensure economic prosperity in these sectors.

Additionally, VET trainers and students can contribute to innovation and research initiatives, further driving competitiveness in additive manufacturing. Global competitiveness is also at stake, as Europe must invest in its youth to maintain its leadership in 3D printing. Furthermore, this technology supports digitalization efforts, with trained youth playing a crucial role in the digital transformation of industries. Countries like Cyprus and Poland, with moderate digital scores, can benefit from such initiatives. Lastly, 3D printing offers cross-disciplinary skills in areas like design, engineering, and entrepreneurship, equipping students with versatile skills applicable across industries. VET remains vital for fostering job-specific and transversal skills, facilitating employment transitions, and keeping the workforce updated with current demands.
